Today I’d like to introduce everyone to the setting of my passion project that I have been working on . . . “The Bard Files” sci-fi novel:
Welcome to Sanctuary a moon a little smaller than our Earth orbiting a Jupiter-like gas giant planet named Io by the locals in the habitable zone of a orange dwarf star. Sanctuary is tidally locked to its big brother gas giant Io where one main continent takes up 35 % of the moons habitable land surface area which always faces towards Io. Just imagine when we Earthlings look up in the sky, our moon only takes up about one half of a degree of our sky. When the local humanoids of Sanctuary known as Plains-, Sky-, Forest-, and Cave- Walkers look up, Io takes up roughly 42 degrees of their sky! On the other side of the moon lies a sub-continent that takes up 10 % of the total land surface area. That leaves 55 % of Sanctuary’s total surface area for the Great Ocean and a few smaller islands spread out across its surface . . .
In the next teaser, I will describe the geography and climate of the main continent and what a typical solar day on Sanctuary is like. Minor spoiler alert, it’s nothing like a day on Earth!
