A long time ago, it seems to me, I took a music appreciation class that was more like a general overview of music history. One of the themes throughout the class was a discussion on the importance of music in the everyday lives of cultures from all time periods. Going all the way back to the earliest civilizations of man, music played an important driving role in the survival of the human race. Just ask yourself this one question:
“Can you live without music?”
Many early human civilizations would answer “No!” and I am guessing all of you answered the same way. Think about it. Everyday we hear music. We hear the birds chirping. Cities have a natural beat and rhythm to them. The movie soundtrack adds so much emotion to the storyline. Music is everywhere.
So the next time you hear some music, stop and take some time to listen, because music is life and life is music.
